|Aria Bergantini Grillo is the owner of Ciao Aria|
No one would guess what goes on behind closed doors in Aria Bergantini Grillo's little New York apartment. With a vision in mind and beads in hand, she crafts each piece of jewelry in the line, "Ciao Aria" in her Brooklyn Heights nest. It may be hard to believe since most products today are manufactured on assembly lines in other countries, but all of Ciao Aria jewelry is handmade with love right here in New York City.

"All of my materials are made in the USA," Grillo said proudly. The designer uses Swarovski for more "blingy" pieces. She finds inspiration from the people in her life, as well as New York City and places she's traveled. Colors are selected based on each individual's personality, and she names every jeweled piece after a friend or family member. "I intend to keep that tradition as my collection grows."
As a born and bred New Yorker who grew up in TriBeCa, Grillo is a huge supporter of NYC shops and businesses, and purchases all supplies in the jewelry district of Manhattan, which is her favorite place to source the beaded creations. You can frequently find her traveling between stores like M&J Trimming, Beads World, and Toho Shoji.
"I love to support local and keep the garment/jewelry district alive and thriving," she said recently.

Beyond the design and fabrication process, Grillo's pieces are unique because 10 percent of each item sold is donated to a local charity of the buyer's choice. Currently, Ciao Aria is working with Tuesday’s Children, a 9/11 Foundation (where Aria serves on its Junior Board) the Ronald McDonald House, the ASPCA, BCRF (the Breast Cancer Research Foundation), Reading is Fundamental, and The Nature Conservancy. More charities will be added to the list as Ciao Aria expands.
