The St. Regis New York is one Midtown hotel that has rubbed elbows with Hollywood for decades. It's a landmark that has stood the test of time in a city that seems to change by the minute. Originally named the St. Regis Hotel, this NYC classic is located at 2 East 55th Street at Fifth Avenue. The hotel has always attracted the wealthy, and has been known as a destination for celebrities including Marlene Dietrich, Salvador Dali, and of course, Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio had their heated argument while staying in Suite 1105 in 1954.

It might be shocking to remember the scene just outside the hotel in the 1976 film, Taxi Driver. Travis Bickle, played by Robert De Niro, managed to pick up a young and model-like Betsy, played by Cybill Shepherd. Many other hotels could have been expected to appear in this nostalgic flick during a porn-infested, drug-ridden Manhattan at the time, but not such a high-class stopover as the St Regis.

The famous King Cole Bar in the St. Regis had a small role in The Devil Wears Prada. Simon Baker's character hands the coveted Harry Potter manuscript to Anne Hathaway's character, Andy, in the bar.

Coming to the realization that she is no longer a young leading ladyGoldie Hawn cries over a cocktail at the King Cole in The First Wives' Club.

In The Godfather, Michael (Al Pacino) and Kay, (Diane Keaton) spend a night in one of the hotel's elaborate rooms.

And one of the most famous New York filmmakers of all time, Woody Allen, used the location for three of his films:  Anything Else, Hannah and Her Sisters, and Radio City.

The famed 1904 French Beaux-Arts hotel has been owned by Starwood since 1998 and continues to be one of the ultra-luxury establishments in New York City with a five-star rating, attracting celebrities and tourists alike. The St. Regis is one of the pieces of old New York still remaining in Midtown.
