Black Friday officially kicks off the holiday shopping season. Are you ready? Personally, I don’t shop on the day after Thanksgiving since I aim to avoid those crazy crowds, but also because I tend to do my holiday shopping at the last minute. I know, I shouldn’t procrastinate, but I don’t get into the holiday spirit until about a week before December 25. Here in New York, we have a host of terrific options for gifts, from the quaint mom-and-pop stores to one-stop shopping destinations like Macy’s and Bloomingdale’s, and luxury favorites like Bergdorf Goodman, Barneys, and Fifth Avenue’s bevy of boutiques. No matter your budget or taste, you’ll find plenty of shops all throughout the five boroughs, but Manhattan has the largest concentration and variety.
Personally, I love a bargain, and Century 21 offers just that. Discount stores and can’t-miss sales make holiday shopping a no-brainer. And with extended hours during the month of December (Macy’s even stays open 24 hours!), there’s no excuse for lack of time to shop.
Window peeping during the holiday season is a pastime among New Yorkers too, because every retailer decks out its displays to the nines, so even if you can’t afford to shop, admiration doesn’t have a price tag.
