|I hosted a fabulous Friendsgiving meal for eight in my NYC apartment with the help of Boston Market.|
Since I’m spending time in Pennsylvania this week, I celebrated Thanksgiving with friends in the city before I left town. Our gathering last Thursday was my first ‘Friendsgiving’ for eight people in New York. I know what you’re thinking. How did I manage dinner for eight in my New York apartment? Good question.
I would’ve bitten off more turkey than I could chew if I’d attempted to cook Thanksgiving dinner with all the sides from scratch –– especially with my crazy November schedule, small kitchen, and even smaller temperamental Bertazzoni range. So rather than slaving away for hours, stressing, and taking all the fun out of the occasion, I did something that I’ve never done before –– I ordered our feast from Boston Market. And I’m so glad I did.
I planned a menu with turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables, mac and cheese, pumpkin pie, and more, only a few days in advance. And just an hour before my guests arrived, Boston Market delivered everything hot and ready to eat! I can’t tell you how much time, energy, and worry this saved me.
Boston Market’s classic recipes make it easy to get creative in the kitchen if you so desire, too. Chopping a handful of fresh herbs or adding an ingredient or two doesn’t take a lot of effort and is a terrific option to personalize your meal.
For instance, I added fresh rosemary to the turkey breast, shallots, Italian sausage and fresh sage to the vegetable stuffing, butter and sautéed shallots to the mixed veggies, and fresh chives to the mashed potatoes. Baking the macaroni and cheese made it extra yummy. Talk about comfort food….Are you hungry yet?
Our group had a table filled with homemade-tasting dishes, all of which were absolutely delicious. And on top of the flavorful fête, I think I wowed my guests.

And even if you want to cook the turkey, it’s the prep and sides that take oodles of time. Boston Market has everything from sweet potato casserole to cornbread, to cranberry sauce, to veggies.

All Boston Market stores are open on Thanksgiving Day (hours vary by location) and offer holiday favorites in their Thanksgiving Day Meal, which features your choice of roasted turkey breast or half signature rotisserie chicken with two home-style sides, freshly baked cornbread and a slice of apple or pumpkin pie for $11.99.
Boston Market served more than 1 million people last Thanksgiving and expects to serve more than 1 million again this year. Many thanks to Boston Market for providing the food for my Friendsgiving meal.
