The Muse, 350 Moffat St
Through an exciting event program, The Muse pays tribute to the history and art of the circus. The world’s best performers come to showcase their expertise ranging from traditional acrobatics to death-defying feats of skill. Folks here want everyone to get in on the action and offer a fun list of classes. Cut your teeth on circus apparatus favorites such as the aerial rope, lyra, trapeze, and German wheel.
House of Yes, 2 Wyckoff Ave
Located in Bushwick, House of Yes is considered one the most dynamic event spaces in Brooklyn for underground arts. Every night is a party here with a calendar that lists circus, aerial, burlesque shows, discos, magic shows, wig parties, immersive theater and so much more. Self-dubbed as ‘weird. wild. wonderful,’ House of Yes passes no judgment and encourages all inhibitions be left at the door. Radiating wacky, good vibes, this is the place to come for a night of fun and letting loose.
Grace Exhibition Space, 840 Broadway, 2nd Floor
Devoted completely to performance art, Grace Exhibition Space doesn’t believe in the stage. Rather, it is housed in a Brooklyn Loft where all events are presented on the floor, which erases the boundary between viewer and artist. The space offers events that represent an international roster of leading performance artists and groups. Look forward to an artistic experience that is raw, visceral, and of the moment.
Cloud City, 85 N 1st St
Founded by the folks behind Dead Herring, Cloud City is a funky space in Williamsburg where the members of Brooklyn’s creative underbelly thrive. An explosive event program features everything from music performances, comedy and variety shows to theater performances, art exhibitions and film screenings. On any given night at Cloud City, you can expect the unexpected.
Issue Project Room, 22 Boerum Place
The Issue Project Room was founded in response to the disappearance of NYC’s art spaces cultivating innovative creative production. With a focus on past, present, and future, the Issue Room supports exciting emerging artists along with groundbreaking late-career and international artists through artist-in-residence programs. Performances take place in an atmospheric renovated theater, built in 1926 as the headquarters of the Benevolent & Protective Order of the Elks. The calendar lists a deep offering of experimental music collaborations, computer music, interactive performances, and more by today’s avant-garde musicians, composers, writers, and performance artists.
