New York is a bride’s dream setting for many reasons: iconic photo backdrops, an endless choice of venues, and most of all –– the shopping. First, there’s Kleinfeld’s, which boasts the largest selection of couture wedding dresses, designer exclusives, plus-size wedding gowns, headpieces and accessories. After that, there’s a multitude of major department stores, designer boutiques, indie shops, frequent sample sales, and trunk shows. That should be enough, right? Well in case it isn’t, we’ve gathered a variety of gorgeous wedding gowns as proof, all available right here in NYC.
Few designers are more synonymous with the word wedding than Monique Lhullier. Infusing modern fashion into classic bridal looks, Lhullier has a strong fan following, including Carrie Underwood, P!nk, and Reese Witherspoon. The ‘Madison’ in Dream Pink, provides the perfect alternative to the traditional white. Luckily for us, there is a flagship right in Manhattan on 71st Street. You can also head over to Saks Fifth Avenue or Mark Ingram Atelier.

Perhaps more widely known for her exquisite headdresses, Jenny Packham has also caught the eyes of brides everywhere for her romantic, ethereal bridal gowns. For Spring/Summer 2014, Packham paid homage to the Edwardian era with slightly slouched silhouettes and delicate beading. The ‘Jean’ perfectly embodies Packham’s modern vintage aesthetic.

If your wedding is more casual, a la` Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City, perhaps this look from J.Crew will be just the right pick. The ‘Ivory Clara Dress in Crinkle Chiffon’ is perfect for a warm summer wedding day in New York, made from lightweight silk chiffon. Pair with sparkly strappy heels like these crystal-embellished suede and satin sandals from Valentino.

Barcelona born bridal titan, Pronovias, can be found in midtown Manhattan, taking up five floors. If that’s not convincing enough, the boutique is by appointment only, which means you will have someone there to help you navigate the five floors. With a healthy dose of glamour in the ‘Ocumo’ from the 2014 collection, as well as no shortage of lace, you are sure to find an attentive shopping experience and the quintessential wedding gown at Pronovias.

Oh, Oscar. You design some of the most beautiful red carpet gowns, and do just the same when it comes to bridal. While this piece is not necessarily budget friendly, the Oscar de la Renta wedding dress is the dress for which you splurge, if given the opportunity to afford one. Our personal favorite is the ‘Aidan’ from the 2014 collection. Whimsical, delicate and graceful – all the right words for describing a beautiful bride to be.
