Hey, we all get in food ruts. Sure, you know what you’re getting from your go-to places, but are you really taking in all the city has to offer? Why not venture to a few different NYC eateries this year? Not sure where to go to tantalize your taste buds in 2015? Problem solved. We have compiled a delectable list of eateries outside Manhattan that will make you wonder why you waited to step beyond your food comfort zone. Hope you’re hungry!
BROOKLYN
Brooklyn Farmacy & Soda Company, 513 Henry St
Though this ice cream and soda shop opened its doors in 2010, you can’t help but feel nostalgic when you step through the doors of the Carroll Gardens establishment. Whether you sip on a classic egg cream or indulge on an outrageous sundae at the former site of Longos Pharmacy, a 1920s apothecary, you can’t possibly go wrong.
We Olive and Wine Bar, 116 Smith St
We Olive offers artisan California olive oils and wines, along with exquisite small bite plates. Sample one of the 40 varieties of olive oils for purchase, or try one of its dressings or balsamic vinegars for an ultimate taste extravaganza.
Rimini Pastry Shop, 6822 Bay Parkway
Opened in 1973 in Bensonhurst, Rimini is renowned for its delicious cannoli, cakes, and tiramisu, sure to dazzle your sweet tooth.

STATEN ISLAND
Da Noi, 4358 Victory Blvd
You’ll find awesome Italian food in a charming, romantic atmosphere—perfect for that special someone. The grilled eggplant with smoked mozzarella and the stuffed artichoke are must-tries. Da Noi has another location in downtown Staten Island.
Mother Mousse Bakery, 3767 Victory Blvd
I’ve had a sugar-free cake from here, and it was outstanding. But for the normal people who prefer sugary delights, Mother Mousse offers up great baked goods like the cakes, which take center stage. MM also serves fat-free and gluten-free pastries, cookies, and brownies, as well as doggy treats for your four-legged friends.

QUEENS
Cherry Valley Deli & Grill, 12-29 150th St
While Cherry Valley is in the nether reaches of Whitestone, Queens and doesn’t have any seating, its phenomenal sandwiches are more than enough reason to frequent the 24-hour, out-of-the-way establishment. The Bushman hero—chicken cutlet with bacon, brown gravy, and American cheese—is legendary.
Kabab Café, 25-12 Steinway St, at 25th Ave
Eating at Kabab is an experience. First off, there isn’t a menu, so you have to trust owner and Chef Ali when it comes to ordering. No worries. He whips up authentic Egyptian dishes from scratch, and everything is absolutely tasty at this tiny Astoria gem. Lamb brains, anyone?
Krolewskie Jadlo, 66-21 Fresh Pond Rd
This stopover is the place to go to for fantastic Polish fare in Ridgewood, a Brooklyn neighborhood with a strong Pole population. White Borscht soup, pierogies, and potato pancakes are all delightful at Krolewskie Jadlo.

THE BRONX
Liebman’s Kosher Deli, 552 W 235th St
This Bronx deli is a fantastic place for pastrami & rye, but don’t forget the authentic knishes and grilled hot dogs.
Jake’s Steakhouse, 6031 Broadway
One of the better steak houses in the outer boroughs, Jake’s offers up great cuts of meat, from the Filet Mignon to the Porterhouse for two. Plus, you can expect a good selection of flavorful drinks, scrumptious sides, and exceptional desserts. Order the crème brûlée to top off your meal.
