Buying food and drinks can get expensive, so in trying to keep within my budget, my friends and I often visit bars that will give us a decent snack (or meal!) with our drinks. Good things don’t often come free in NYC, but if you look hard enough, they’re out there. Check out some of these NYC bars with free snacks.
On Thursdays, as well as selected and sporadic other low-traffic evenings (try Mondays), The Belgian Room offers free Pommes Frites with a choice of sauce to accompany any drink order. The fries are hot and crispy, served in a strange upright wooden structure, wrapped in a cone of light paper to soak up the excess grease. I prefer the honey mustard or BBQ sauces, but several others are available (no cheese, sadly).

to their spiked slushies –– choose from vodka and sweet tea or Jim Beam and Coke –– this crispy snack will leave your fingers a bit orange but fill your belly as you spend the night drinking at this ironic dive. Bonus: board games and an outdoor mini golf course are free amusements in between PBRs and constant refills of the not-quite stale cheese snacks.
