Note: Hotel Americano is now The Selina, and I have not tried and tested this property.
Interested in trying a new hotel on your next trip to New York City? Hotel Americano is a hip, trendy place to stay in West Chelsea, a neighborhood overflowing with cool art galleries and nightlife. Plus, the hotel is located a block away from an entrance to the gorgeously landscaped High Line, also one of the city’s most unique attractions.
While rooms are on the smaller side, they have a relaxing, zen-like quality, and modern aesthetic with platform beds, warm wood, and sleek concrete. Amenities include Turkish towels, bathrobes, slippers, Le Labo bath products, iPads, and room service.
The staff at Hotel Americano is young, stylish and super friendly. They’re attentive but not smothering, and nothing is too much trouble, so don’t be afraid to ask. They’ll do whatever they can to make your stay comfortable.
Adjacent to the lobby, Cafe Americano serves fantastic dishes that rival some of the neighborhood’s favorites like Cookshop and The Red Cat. Come by on a weekend for brunch and you’ll hear a live jazz quartet (bonus!). Beyond the rear glass wall lies an outdoor space with seating that’s ideal for drinking or dining on a temperate day.
Up on the roof, La Piscine is the place for cocktails with a view. Kick back and relax, and soak up the sun and the city as you lounge by the pool.
Hotel Americano is a boutique hotel and you won’t find some of the amenities that you will in larger chain hotels. For me, I prefer the smaller hotels for a more personal experience. 🙂
I stayed for one night in this hotel, and I’d recommend it for singles and couples. I don’t think the area of town, room design, or theme of the hotel caters to families with kids, but if you’re a fan of design hotels, then Hotel Americano is worth checking out.

Also, take a look at these unique hotels for a stay in Manhattan. And, One UN New York provides more than a room with a view.
I review hotels for The UK Telegraph. All rooms and meals are complimentary.
