Be inspired by these International Women’s Day quotes.
Every day is a good day for women around the world to come together and empower one another, but International Women’s Day is a day dedicated to just that. This day celebrates women, their lives and aspirations, and offers a chance to pay closer attention to the countless challenges they face. Relationship challenges. Career challenges. Social challenges. Health challenges. Economic challenges. Inclusivity challenges. Personal challenges, because yes, we even experience challenges within ourselves.
As a woman, what is your greatest challenge?
I have two challenges. The first, a career challenge, is finding time to get it all done. Everything I need to get done (or think I need to get done), and not letting others down or myself down. I often say, “If only I had an eighth day!” Something tells me that if I did have another day each week, I’d want another because I’d take on more responsibility. Sometimes, it’s okay to say, “No.”
As a woman, do you have a personal challenge?
My other challenge is also career-related, but it’s more personal. Have I accomplished enough for my age? Some days I feel like I should be further along in my career. I have a checklist of tasks I want to accomplish, and I’m not checking off that list fast enough. I feel the clock ticking and I put more pressure on myself. Do you ever feel like you’re not yet where you want to be in life? I’d love to know how other women manage these thoughts and struggles. I don’t think I’m alone.
In honor of International Women’s Day and women around the globe, in the quest for equal rights, pay, education and freedom, these inspiring quotes from New York women (both past and present) will hopefully make all of us appreciate ourselves a little more and give us the strength to be great or continue on that path to greatness. Greatness isn’t necessarily accomplishing that ultimate goal in life, either. We all need to remember that. Greatness has many definitions and we can define our own greatness. Call your own shots and don’t let anyone else call them for you.
Be bold. Speak up. Let’s be champions for one another. We’ve got this. Now, on to the quotes!
