Spring is the season of growth, rebirth, newness and excitement. While most people look forward to blooming flowers and beaming sunshine during those early days of spring, as temperatures begin to creep, for me— it’s all about the shoes. Finally my feet get the opportunity to escape the prison of socks and boots and slip into flats and strappy wedges.
So, since it’s finally beginning to resemble spring in NYC, Tracy’s New York Life has gathered the warm weather shoe trends absolutely worth coveting. Pick up one or more of these fashionable finds while out and about in New York, and get excited over the rebirth and growth of your spring shoe collection.
Neutral-colored sandals and flats are one of my favorite and most wearable footwear trends this season. While a nude ballet flat may not scream spring, it definitely says chic. And on top of that, the color is called ‘neutral’ for a reason— it goes with just about everything!
Shop these Vibrant Tumbled Ballerinas in nude from Topshop at Broadway and Broome. These comfy classics are both trendy and easy on the wallet.
On those warmer days, go for the ‘Ryo Beach sandal in ‘Dixan Beach’ sold at New York-based shoe boutique, Coclico. These buttery leather sandals are soft to the touch and pleasant to anyone’s spring wardrobe.
Much less subtle than neutrals, but perhaps just as versatile, metallic is our second spring must-have shoe trend. Whether it’s pointy pumps, retro oxfords, or sandals — you will be sure to find them all in a metallic this season. And since much of your spring wardrobe is made of bright colors and floral prints, this trend will certainly give you that bit of glamour you’ll need.
When it comes to shopping metallic, there are few places we’d recommend over United Nude on Bond Street. When you’re there, be sure to pick up these understated Solid slingbacks in black and silver.
If I were to make a prediction, I would venture to say that this trend may be the spring’s most popular. Easily incorporated into both sandals and heels, the ankle strap will be on every ankle this spring. These MM6 Ankle Strap Sandals are comfortable with a two-tone pattern that perfectly toes the line of work and play. Find these at Creatures of Comfort on Mulberry Street.
For a look that will satisfy the warmer spring days, head over to one of three Madewell locations in Manhattan to pick up a pair of their collaboration sneakers with Keds. These Keds x Madewell ‘diamond duo’ sneakers will have you walking for avenues, and their low height will give you an out on the socks!
And most of all ladies, with all this sunshine and warmer weather, don’t forget your pedicure so your feet look as fab as your shoes.
