I make it a point to clean every other week throughout the year, and I straighten and vacuum during in-between weeks, but with two furry four-legged creatures roaming around, I never feel like my home is clean enough. So when MyClean contacted me about sending one of their pro cleaners to my Upper West Side nest, I jumped at the chance for a thorough, professional job.

The awesome thing about MyClean is that you can manage everything online. From booking to special requests, and even payment, you never have to pick up the phone. Plus, if you regularly work with one housekeeper and she’s sick or cancels, with MyClean, you will never have that issue. There are always other maids to jump in and pick up the slack so you aren’t stuck cleaning at midnight the evening before your mother-in-law comes to town. (This has happened.)
With services in Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, and Bronx, MyClean provides only bonded and insured cleaners, and trains each maid with a 50-point checklist. They bring their own green cleaning products, like Meyer’s; you provide the vacuum cleaner, mop, paper towels, and toilet brush, and they provide most everything else.

Jaime was my cleaner and she spent about 3.5 hours on my 825 square foot apartment. She did the standard stuff like surfaces, floors, and the bathroom, but she did a few extras that I didn’t ask her to do, including wiping down my white kitchen cabinets. I asked her to vacuum the bottom of my drapes, which she willingly did, also.
Jaime was punctual (a few minutes early!), pleasant, and accommodating. She also likes both dogs and cats –– which is important to me, since I own one of each –– and Bogey and Mimi liked her too. Mimi slept through the entire cleaning, even as I moved her from one room to the other to avoid the hated vacuum.
|Leave me alone, please. And turn that vacuum down. I need my beauty sleep.|
One thing I suggest –– if you use MyClean, or any cleaning service for that matter –– is to make a list and write down any extra tasks or areas that you would like tidied or cleaned. Most housekeepers will appreciate the list, and you’ll get better service and end up with a cleaner house or apartment in the long run.
