For another sweet way to start your fall morning, check out the Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal at Oatmeals, NYC’s only oat-centric shop. Choose from baby bear, mama bear, or papa bear sizes ($4, $5, $6) and swirl the pumpkin puree, candied pecans, and pie-like toppings into your creamy, made-to-order oatmeal.
Pumpkin Dumplings by The Dumpling Man are about as sweet as it gets– soft, buttery pumpkin filling is wrapped in a thin layer of dumpling dough, steamed, and soaked in sugary condensed milk. Totally unique in texture and flavor, these pumpkin-centric treats are a must-try!

Pumpkin Lattes are all the rage in the fall, and while they’re available in a variety of syrupy
concoctions, one of my favorites at Grounded uses totally organic products and has a variety of choices of non-dairy milks. If you’re on the way to check out fall foliage at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, stop by The Pulp and The Bean for a hot or iced pumpkin spice latte, perhaps with another flavor shot (like gingerbread or almond) mixed in.

For a spicier option, check out the Pumpkin Curry at Qi (my restaurant of choice when having to dine near Times Square), serves a steaming bowl of pumpkin curry, made lighter with fresh lemongrass and basil. Over rice, this thick dish is superb, warming up your insides on a cold fall day while simultaneously heating your mouth with spice. For a more mild dish, try the stir-fried pumpkin with eggs on the side.
And though not on many fall menus yet, dishes like pumpkin-filled ravioli and pumpkin gnocchi are foods to look out for, on specials lists and rotating seasonal menus. In the meantime, you can pick up a make-at-home pack of pumpkin pasta at Russo Mozzarella & Pasta.
There’s a small chance that I’ll turn a shade of orange from all this pumpkin consumption before the season is over, but I’m still on the lookout for even more pumpkin delicacies. Any leads on a pumpkin burger? Comments and suggestions are welcome.
