|Summer Streets NYC|
For the past four summers, the city of New York has closed Park Avenue from 72nd Street to the Brooklyn Bridge. For three Saturdays in August from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., New Yorkers are free to run, walk, and bike on this street with no traffic. The event includes free bike and skate rentals, exercise programs, rest stops, and parties in the street.
Yesterday, I made the walk from 89th and West End, down to Spring Street and Lafayette (Park avenue downtown) in SoHo. It was a magnificent day for a six-mile walk and the weather cooperated. Below are some photos from the experience. New York in action during Summer Streets 2011.
