|Thriller in action–-credit|
Last night was my big moment–performing in New York City for the first time in my life. I may have been with thousands of others, but there were thousands more watching at the Village Halloween Parade. Before the event, I had my first experience with paparazzi minus the “Red Carpet.” This was truly overwhelming – dozens of photographers and reporters swarming around and snapping photos repeatedly. Wow! Suddenly I was famous, if even for a night.
Frozen stiff like a zombie by the time the parade began, I only thought I was acting. I amazed myself, remembering each detail of the choreography, and staying in character the entire time. My inner actress emerged, and my body took over –grooving and stalking simultaneously.
Although the cheering crowd was reminiscent of a natural high from days gone by, the true highlight was dancing with my favorite zombie in my favorite place. When it was all said and done, I had my bestie to share in the blood, with a backdrop of the New York skyline and the Empire State Building in front of me.
On this holiday, “Thriller” took on a whole new meaning. Halloween doesn’t get any better than this.
