ESCAPING NEW YORK
Walking through Alster Park was a highlight of my trip to Hamburg. Of course, I love cities and look forward to discovering new ones when I travel, but having the chance to mingle with locals in other places is one of the main reasons that I venture beyond NYC to begin with.
Strolling through Alster Park and around Alster Lake gave me the opportunity to observe what Hamburgers do on a Sunday afternoon, and I found it to be similar to what New Yorkers would be doing on a sunny weekend day. I felt at home.
The park itself is lush and spacious, and provides a lot of space for walking, jogging, and biking, but the lake introduces a different element, one that adds a touch of tranquility to an otherwise lively green space.
Take Central Park and combine it with Riverside Park, and you might end up with something similar to Hamburg’s Alster Park. Catch a glimpse in the photos below…
